Las Vegas, Nevada – MONAT Global Corp, a world-class designer, manufacturer, and distributor of hair care products, has filed a defamation lawsuit in federal court against Toni Miller, a Las Vegas hairstylist who sells hair care products that compete with MONAT.
MONAT alleges that Miller has repeatedly published false and disparaging statements about the safety of MONAT’s products. Additionally, the lawsuit states that Miller advertised “treatment” services for MONAT customers to reverse any alleged hair damage.
MONAT asserts that there is absolutely no scientific or other factual basis for Miller’s claims and that Miller made the claims with the intent of harming Monat’s good name and reputation, negatively impacting the sales of its products, and increasing Miller’s sales of competing products. All MONAT products have undergone independent, clinical testing and the products use only ingredients, in concentrations, that are approved by the Personal Care Product Council, and that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Health Canada and the European Commission in the European Union consider “safe for their intended purpose.”
Moreover, hundreds of thousands of consumers safely use MONAT products every day.
Monat is also seeking an injunctive against Miller that would prohibit her from making any further false statements, as well as an award of $225,000 to compensate Monat for the damage caused by Miller’s past statements.
On January 29, 2018, Monat filed a four-count lawsuit in the Federal Court in the Eastern District of North Carolina against Vickie Harrington in connection with statements made by Harrington about Monat and its products. As of February 28, 2018, Monat has successfully resolved that litigation. As part of Monat’s successful resolution of this matter, Harrington has agreed to pay Monat to settle its claims against her.
